Volunteer

Sand Bluff is entirely staffed by volunteers of all ages and levels of knowledge. In fact people just like you. No-one is born an expert, the acquisition of knowledge requires time. Do you want to know more about birds? Do you want to know how to identify birds in the field or in the hand? Do you want to learn how to band birds? No previous knowledge is required to be a volunteer, just the willingness to learn at you own pace. While most volunteers help with data entry/recording, taking birds out of mist nets, or banding birds, there are many other important tasks to keep this great organization running. We have visitor education, database programming, event set up, data analysis, and technical writing that we need help with.

So if you have some time and you want to acquire the knowledge, in a friendly place, then Sand Bluff is the place for you.

Our regular season goes from early March until mid May and early August to mid November. We would like to know what times you might be available to help us out. You will not be locked in to these times, and we would love to have you out at the station any time you have available.
